The Indian gooseberry or amla is an amazing fruit. Many of us are not aware of the immense health benefits of this juicy, rejuvenating, nourishing fruit. Amla is a rich source of vitamin C. Since ages amla has been used in preparing pickles, morabbas and chutneys. Good health is a blessing from god but many of us do not know how to maintain good health. We take various vitamin supplements for a healthy body. The truth is that some very simple herbs can make the most magical cures. I was always aware of the fact that amla is extremely beneficial in case of cold and cough and for good hair but I was not aware of the numerous other benefits of amla. So here I am to write about another of my magical potion
Potion 1
Amla Juice (Juice of Immortality)
A glass amla juice can be had every morning for glowing skin, thick hair and a healthy body. Amla juice improves our digestive system and helps in the detoxification of our body. A glass of amla juice can easily be prepared at home. We can improve the tasty by adding some easy ingredients to this juice
Ingredients
Amla- a cup of amla chopped into small pieces (seeds removed)
1 teaspoon sugar
a pinch of salt
Method
Take the amla pieces in a bowl. Add one and a half cup of water in the pressure cooker. Place the bowl inside the pressure cooker and place it in the gas oven. Close the lid of the pressure cooker and remove it from the gas oven after 1 whistle. Once the amla is pressure cooked, crush it and then grind it into a paste in a mixer grinder, add the salt and sugar along with it in the mixer grinder. Once the paste is prepared add the required quantity of water to the mixture to prepare your amla juice. Cool it in the fridge.
Potion 2
Sun Dried Amla
Another interesting potion I would like to share is a very common potion I have learnt from my mother and my aunt.
Ingredients
Amla- a cup of amla chopped into small pieces (seeds removed)
Salt for taste
Method
The amla pieces are coated with salt and then spread out on a plate. It is then covered with a thin piece of cloth and sun dried. This has to be sun dried repeatedly over a long period. Once the entire water content in the amla dries up it will shrivel up and can be stored for many days. It tastes good and is excellent for digestion.

Tangy Tasty Amla
Ingredients
Amla- a cup of amla chopped into small pieces (seeds removed)
Salt for taste
chilly powder
Method
The amla pieces can be coated with salt and red chilly powder and kept for an hour or two. The tangy taste is very appealing.
Health Benefits
Amla has several healthy benefits since it is a rich storehouse of vitamin C. It increases our immunity, It improves the functioning of our digestive system, urinary system and improves liver functioning as well. It is a rich source of carotene, phosphorus, iron, calcium and vitamin B complex. It acts as an excellent antioxidant.
Cure of asthma and bronchitis
Amla juice can be add along with honey to cure chronic cough, bronchitis, allergic asthma etc.
Weight Loss
It helps in controlling obesity and helps in fat reduction.
Cholesterol reduction
Regular intake of amla can help in reducing bad cholesterol.
Cure for Piles
Regular intake can cure constipation and help in clear bowel movements.
Cure for Diabetes
Amla juice when consumed along with turmeric powder and honey is useful in controlling diabetes.
Bone Health
Amla reduces osteoclasts, the bone cells which are responsible for breakdown of bones.
Beneficial for Hair
Amla juice strengthens our hair follicles, prevents premature greying, reduces hair fall, reduces split ends and frizzy hair, cures dandruff and is a good conditioner.

Amla acts as an exfoliant, it can be used as a toner and a cleanser. It is also used for curing pigmentation and for curing acne and pimples.
Thus my 'amazing amla' can be very rightly called a rejuvenant or a miracle potion for longevity.
